Supporting Storm Victims in Ohatchee
Committed to serving and giving back
As the deadly tornadoes hit Ohatchee, Alabama, the Power of Life Foundation took the initiative to reach out to the families who suffered from it.
Lisa Stevens and her family suffered a devastating loss during the storm. Aside from their home, they also lost her father, who couldn't reach a safer place during the onslaught of the deadly storm. However, in the face of tragedy, acts of kindness and generosity continue to shine.
Birmingham police officer Lane Harper, through his Power of Life Foundation, loaded up a truck with essentials and made a delivery to the Stevens family on Saturday. Harper and his foundation are committed to serving and giving back to the community during times of disaster.
The Power of Life Foundation wanted to hand-deliver items, such as clean water, hygiene products, clothing, and more, to show their support and care. Board member Johnny Hollingshed explained that the name of the foundation represents the idea that life is meant to be used to serve others.
Lisa Stevens expressed her gratitude for the outpouring of love and support from the community in the aftermath of the storm.
She said that the tragedy has made her appreciate the little things she once took for granted.
Officer Harper and the Power of Life Foundation are not stopping their efforts to help tornado victims. They are already planning a second trip to Ohatchee to support more families in need.
